Welcome to the Ladies Page
THE LADIES' TALE
It was in 1984 it was suggested that there should be a Ladies Bowling section of the club; there were seven ladies that took up this challenge. Dot Cross, Pat Dunstone, Ann Fewings, Della Horsburgh, Lillian Pothecar, Margaret Wride and Pauline Finch. At the start of the 1985 season the Ladies section got going; Jim Warren Secretary of the club gave us a great deal of help, providing us with stationery and finding out whom we had to talk to, with regards to our affiliation to Ladies Bowls. Not having too many members, we had a committee of two, Wednesday afternoons were our rollup time and several of the men section would give us the benefit of their experience; they were great deal of help to us, and we became better bowlers. Our first game was a mixed match against Porlock, at home in June 1985, we caught the "Bowls Bug" and we were on our way.
In 1986 we had enough members to apply to Somerset Ladies Bowling Association for affiliation and we were accepted, since then we have become a strong and supportive part of St.Andrews Bowling Club.
Since the start of 1985 the Ladies have achieved many honours on and of the green.
Why not come and play us at our Green, we can play 4 Rinks of Ladies or 7 Rinks Mixed.
We look forward to seeing you
